Dr. Ricky Pope

Dr. Ricky J. Pope is a licensed psychologist, researcher, and patented inventor who designs evidence-based mental health and student success systems that move first-generation students and young men from institutional avoidance to belonging, wellness, and academic momentum. As Founder of the Homebase Lab at San Diego State University, he integrates clinical expertise, restorative practices, and culturally grounded intervention models to build relational ecologies, peer mentorship systems, and proactive outreach strategies that help students thrive. He has presented at national conventions, published scholarship in peer-reviewed journals, and taught courses and workshops on academic success, multicultural counseling, and counseling techniques.
